ingenious produces the world's largest trainer for Tesco Race for Life

 

 

Ingenious was commissioned by Launch Group - PR Consultants to Tesco – to make the world’s largest trainer* in support of Tesco’s sponsorship of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

The colossal trainer - measuring 4 metres long and equivalent to a staggering UK size 454, has taken three months and 840 man hours to build and will be touring the UK as part of Tesco’s biggest ever national fundraising initiative.

Entirely built from authentic materials the handmade trainer has been produced following the traditional British footwear manufacturing process:

• it took 112 working days to build
• the trainer’s shoe lace is 18m long
• the trainer weighs around 150kg
• a person with a UK shoe size 454 would be approximately 26.7m tall
• their stride would be 11m long
• it would take just 454 strides to complete a 5k Race for Life event3 (compared to 7,246   strides for an average female UK shoe size 5)
